Mr. Jamie Madden - Principal & Grades 6-8
I first realized I wanted to work with kids when I took a summer job as a teacher's aid at the Union College Daycare working with 4 and 5 year olds. Four years later I graduated from Union College with a degree in Elementary Education. Out of college I accepted a job teaching grades 5-8 in Anoka, MN at The Anoka Adventist Christian School. In 2007 I completed a masters degree in Educational Administration and Leadership. After teaching in Anoka for 19 years I made the decision ten years ago to join the team at Northwoods Elementary. In my spare time I love reading, music, and following Minnesota sports teams. I'm excited to be working with a great group of students, parents, and teachers. I teach because I love working with kids. I teach in an Adventist school because of the freedom it allows me to approach education in a holistic way. Adventist education is not only concerned with academic excellence, but with physical and spiritual development. My goal is that each student that graduates from Northwoods has discovered the joy of learning, is an independent thinker, is prepared for high school, has learned the significance of helping people, and will in whatever profession they pursue, look to serve others, and of most importance - has developed a relationship with Jesus Christ. |
Mrs. Cammie Johnston - Grades 4-5
We have returned to Minnesota to live closer to our parents. I am excited to work at Northwoods Elementary School surrounded by old friends. I was raised near Grand Rapids, Minnesota. My freshman year my family moved to Liberia, Africa as missionaries but returned early due to war. I attended Maplewood Academy my sophomore year and finished high school at College View Academy. I worked six summers at North Star camp before graduating from Union College with Elementary Education in 1998. I taught two years at Columbine Christian School in Durango, Colorado before returning to school to obtain a Master’s Degree in Curriculum & Instruction at Andrews University in 2001. While at Andrews, I met my husband, Jeremy. I took a job at Mat Valley Adventist School (Now Amazing Grace Academy) in Palmer, Alaska. Jeremy followed me to Alaska and we were married in 2002. I taught five years in Alaska before we took jobs at Big Lake Youth Camp, working two winters and three summers. Jeremy worked as the Associate Ranger and I had various jobs. Next, we lived near Walla Walla University for four years and then Pleasant Hill, Oregon for the past 11 years. While in Pleasant Hill, I worked one year at Emerald Christian Academy teaching ages 3-6 Montessori, took a break to homeschool our three children, and returned to work in the office as Administrative Assistant for two years. I enjoy making learning fun while watching students become organized and independent. I love being a part of a big school family and helping students see that they are valued by God. My hobbies include off-roading, hammock camping, and snowboarding with family, as well as crocheting and cooking. |
Ms. Kari Schebo - Grades 2-3
I am so happy to be a teacher at Northwoods Elementary! It is a true privilege to be a part of this community and teach these special kiddos. Even though I grew up in NW Wisconsin, I have always considered myself a Minnesotan at heart. During my youth I spent many years going to camp meeting as well as North Star Camp. I am also a proud alumnus of Maplewood Academy! I am so grateful for these ministries, for it was during these formative years that the Lord instilled a passion for children and teaching in my heart. I attended Union College and graduated with B.S. in Elementary Education in 1997. Since that time, I have had experience in the multi-age, single grade classroom, as well as full time administration. In 2006, I graduated with my Masters' Degree in Guidance Counseling from the University of Dayton. Prior to accepting the grades 2-4 teaching position at Northwoods in 2017, I worked as a Reading and Math Title 1 Interventionist in the Eden Prairie Public School District. While it may sound a little different, one of my favorite hobbies is to participate in outstanding educational opportunities like workshops or courses that are progressive and meet the needs of today's child. I love to learn! Outside of the classroom, I enjoy traveling, mission work, and spending time with friends and family. I also love to be active and enjoy a variety of outdoor activities that great state of Minnesota has to offer. It is a true privilege to be a part of a school that teaches its students about Jesus. I emphatically believe in the importance and power of an Adventist Christian Education. Northwoods Elementary is a very special place, and I am so grateful to be a part of this amazing teaching team and community! |
Mrs. Tiffany Trana - Grades K-1
Hutchinson has been my home for more than 28 years, and as a Northwoods Elementary and Maplewood Academy alumnus I consider it a privilege to now be a teacher for Kindergarten and First Grade at our campus. My husband Wayne and I have three children, Spencer, Sally, and Stella. After college I taught 1st and 2nd grade at Minnetonka Christian Academy for 2 years. I became a stay-at-home mom when my son was born and returned to the work force for the 2011-2012 school year. Teaching allows me to minister to children for Christ. I am a firm believer in Christian education and its role in leading children to a saving relationship with Christ. When children experience Christian education it will transform them and change who they become, for the better! My hobbies include gardening, scrapbooking, cooking/baking, camping, traveling, and spending time with family and friends. |
Mrs. Brittany Gaslin - Grades Pre-School, PreK, & Fresh Fives
My passion for children began in high school when I began helping out at a local daycare. I liked helping kids with their homework, but especially enjoyed reading to, playing with, and teaching preschool-aged children new things. This is where my passion for kids was really ignited! My family moved to Hutchinson in 2000 from Bemidji, MN. My dad taught shop at Hutchinson Middle School and I was privileged to have him as my teacher for one year. I am a Maplewood Academy graduate and am proud to be teaching on our campus. This is my eighth year at Northwoods, and each year my love and passion for this school and teaching grows!! My husband Rob and I have three beautiful daughters, Izabella, Zoe, and Willow, and a handsome boy, Beau! I feel like being a mother to my own kids has given me special insight into this stage of childhood development. God has given me a heart to serve and I know He has placed me where he wants me to be. |
Mrs. Barbara Eno - Music, Piano, & Guitar
Mrs. Eno graduated from Union College in 1978 with a B.S. in Music Education. She has been teaching piano, voice and organ lessons for the past 37 years. Along with teaching, she has played piano and organ at many different churches, directed church choirs and taught in elementary schools in Washington and Minnesota. She is currently in her seventh year of teaching music at Northwoods Elementary. Mrs. Eno and her husband Doug have three grown sons who were home-schooled and of course received their introduction to music from their mother. They enjoy bird watching, singing and playing for an outreach ministry team, along with other hobbies. "I've always enjoyed introducing children to music and showing them the tools with which they can continue to learn and develop musical talents. It's a thrill to see how my students advance with their abilities, one even becoming a music teacher himself! I love to see the joy that music brings to others' lives." |
Mr. Clinton Anderson - Band
My life has been immersed in music. Singing together with my family has always been one of my greatest joys in life. Sabbaths in our home, or my grandparent’s homes or Saturday night sing-a-longs at family reunions always became infused with song. Even Sabbaths in the Boundary Waters were enhanced with song. In my first eighteen years of teaching experience in Bemidji, MN at the elementary school, my wife, Leah, and I prioritized music in worships and programs. We, then, moved to Minnetonka Christian Academy for seven years where we helped grow the music department. Our next adventure was Wisconsin Academy where I was the music teacher for eleven years, before we moved to Campion Academy in Colorado where I taught Bible at the academy and bells at the grade school. Born and raised in Hutchinson, MN, I am returning home to do what I am passionate about, make music that lifts us into God’s throne room, in cooperation with students. |
